Frightened Rabbit came to perform here at UC Berkeley last Monday, hosted by SUPERB! I honestly hadn’t heard of them until the concert but once they began to play I was really into their music. They’re also very charming and playful men, very passionate and extremely talented! It was a pleasure meeting them and getting to talk with them. Click through for more photos of the event and support their music!
Last week a friend of mine asked me to take some portraits of him. His preference: a white backdrop. As a broke college student, there’s no way I could possibly own a legitimate white backdrop or a mini-studio back at my apartment in Berkeley. The challenge here was to be innovative. I put together a DIY white backdrop in my garage back in my hometown :) I’ll post the process of the project and the photos of my friend in a later post — they turned out quite nicely! The series of photos above are some self portraits I took while experimenting with the DIY backdrop. I’ve always wanted to do some classic B&Ws :)
I love how photography allows me to explore my creativity.

Loved the way the light peeked over his shoulder and illuminated his cherry-red guitar. What transpired from an attempt to get a variation of angles came to be something of significance. Although the eye fixes onto the lustrous guitar before Gabe’s passionate expression, it goes to show the preeminence of music — in his world, and how he has used this instrument to share it with yours.
To see more portraits of Gabe, visit my official website: www.sui-jeneris.com. It’s currently under construction, so stay posted! :) Hope you are all enjoying your Summertime LPs!
